Our Story

Long story short, two corporate IT guys who really liked craft beer wanted to open a brewpub, but they needed a brewer. They then met a third corporate IT guy studying for his Cicerone certification who happened to be a longtime homebrewer and asked him to partner up with them.

They loved beer, but they also loved food and felt the Quad Cities needed a place dedicated to pairing good food with good beer. They would name this place after the bridge they all had to cross every day to get to work, but would open it across town in the up-and-coming Plex neighborhood. There they would earn a reputation for delicious food accommodating all diets and fantastic and eclectic beers.

And here we are. 5+ years behind us and many more to come. We're just getting started. Stop in sometime and be a part of our journey!

Adam Ross

Owner, Founder, Head Brewer

Hi, I'm the third guy in the story above. I had been homebrewing for almost 15 years when I decided to partner up and start Twin Span Brewing. I started brewing in college, specializing in bizarre styles commercial breweries weren't making (rightfully so in many cases). A few years later I joined the well-established homebrew club MUGZ and became very involved in its operations and events.

I consumed every book, magazine, and podcast on brewing (as well as consuming many beers). I learned as much as I could and brewed every single weekend. At some point I figured I should put my skills to the test and get certified. It was during a lunch break at my corporate IT job where one of my future business partners saw me studying for the Cicerone exam and asked if I wanted to start a brewery with him.

I love history and bringing eclectic styles back to life, finding ways to pair them with food, and sharing all of that with others. Beer is such a major part of human history my plan is to keep that history alive at Twin Span!

Austin Wadkins

Bar Manager, Brewer, Sales Guy

A man with a million hats at Twin Span - figuratively and literally. He's a bartender, a bar manager, sales guy, brewer, cellarman, packaging lead, taste tester, and more. If you've visited us before, there's a good chance he poured you a beer or you at least saw him in the brewhouse.

He started at Twin Span in our early days, after already having an established career slingling suds at multiple craft beer bars and restaurants. He took an interest in brewhouse operations and started hombrewing seltzers and beers himself.

He has yet to develop Adam's stubborness/reverance for the classic beer styles of the world. If you've had a Twin Span beer with cake batter, frosting, or any other ingredient that doesn't belong in beer, you can bet it was Austin's idea.

He currently has an obsession with brewing with bananas, he likes the color red, turtles, and asked Adam to write his bio for some reason.

Kerry Glynn

Operations Manager, Head of Marketing, Force of Nature

Hi, I’m Kerry. I joined Twin Span Brewing in 2023 with a background in restaurants and craft cocktails, originally looking to round out my experience and learn more about the brewing side of the industry. What I didn’t expect was how much I’d come to love the craft beer scene — and especially the people in it.

I’m a creative and emotional person by nature, with a love for photography, good food, and drinks that bring people together. I care a lot about how a space feels and how people are treated, both guests and staff. Over time, Twin Span stopped feeling like a stepping stone and started feeling like home.

At Twin Span, I’m involved in a little bit of everything — from menus and events to the day-to-day details that keep things running smoothly. I enjoy taking ideas from concept to execution and helping shape experiences that feel thoughtful, welcoming, and fun. I’m detail-oriented, but I also know the best parts of hospitality can’t be measured on paper.

Most of all, I care deeply about our people. I’m very invested in our staff and proud of what we’re building together at Twin Span. Creating a place where people want to work, gather, and come back to matters a lot to me, and I’m grateful to be part of it.
